Steeltown officially has its first players.
PHWL Hamilton signed forward Brianne Jenner and goaltender Kayle Osborne to three-year standard player agreements, the expansion franchise announced on Friday.
The deals mark PWHL Hamilton's first-ever player signings ahead of the team's inaugural 2026-27 season. Both contracts run through the 2028-29 campaign, making the pair the first two of five players added during Phase 2 of the PWHL's expansion roster distribution process, which began Friday and runs until 1 p.m. ET on Monday.
The Athletic's Hailey Salvian later reported that Alina Muller has also signed a standard player agreement with Hamilton, making the Swiss star the third player on PWHL Hamilton.
Jenner, 35, spent the last three seasons as a foundational member of the Ottawa Charge, serving as captain. She's the franchise's all-time leading scorer with 61 points, which also ranks eighth in PWHL history. She's racked up 28 goals (seventh all-time) through 82 games, highlighted by a 2025-26 season when she finished fourth in scoring with 12 goals and 14 assists in 40 games. Jenner's efforts earned her a Forward of the Year nomination and helped the Charge reach the Walter Cup Final for the very first time.
The Oakville, Ont., native also boasts a decorated international resume, with two Olympic gold medals (2014, 2022) and a pair of silvers (2018, 2026). She's also compiled four gold, six silver and one bronze medal in 11 world championship appearances.
Osborne, 24, was selected by the New York Sirens in the fifth round (28th overall) of the 2024 PWHL Draft.
She appeared in 10 games during her rookie season, then became New York’s starting netminder in 2025-26. She played in 27 of 30 games and posted a .906 save percentage with a 2.47 goals-against average. Her 11 wins ranked fourth in the league, and her four shutouts ranked third. With five career shutouts, she's tied for third in PWHL history.
From Westport, Ont., Osborne made her Olympic debut at Milano Cortina 2026, serving as Canada's third goaltender.
Muller, 28, has spent all three seasons of her PWHL career with the Boston Fleet. In 2025-26, the centre had four goals and 21 points in 30 games. She was signed in Boston through 2027-28, but was left unprotected during the expansion process.
Phase 2 of roster distribution allows each expansion team to build the foundation of its roster by acquiring five players through signings and, if necessary, a player selection process. Only players identified on an expansion team’s initial 20-player exclusive negotiation target list are eligible to be signed during Phase 2. Existing teams can lose a maximum of three players who are under contract for the 2026-27 season during this phase.
After that, the focus will turn to the PWHL draft on June 17.
